Default Long-Distance Modifier Question

on p241 it states to add an additional -2 per factor of ten. This is opposed to the normal "continue the progression" most such tables mention. This means that 3,000 miles is no more difficult than 10,000. Has anyone else considered appling a "continue the progression" ruling instead of a -2 per factor of ten as in the RAW?

I've always interptreted it that way. 3000 miles is -9, being a factor of 10 farther than 300 miles, 10,000 miles is -10, etc. The same way as the Size and Speed/Range table is -6 per factor of 10.

Yeah, that was how I was wanting it to be interpreted but just didn't see that as a posible interpretation of what is written. Thanks!
