Re: Modular templates
I worked up a similar system that used the usual GURPS skill list etc., but simplified things by ignoring that 4 did not equal 5, and pretending 1 and 2 didn't exist.

Re: Modular templates
I'll see what I can do over the next week to make it presentable and follow up here.

Re: Modular templates
What really surprises me about the Action 4 modular template is how all-encompassing and extensive it is. I was imagining a modular template representing the various options one might have for a given profession, not all the options one might have for an entire genre.
For those of you who have written their own modular templates: are they as extensive? |

I don't use it today, because its not exactly compatible with the point values for the rest of gurps. It may have just as many packages as the BAT but its not as well written and its trying to cover more ground. Currently, I just modify the BAT, and add more packages to my repertoire. When changing genre, you can alter the base template as well as adding packages. I'm fond of saying "You have X points to spend on base attributes", with the numbers 70, 40, and 120 being the most common. My biggest Effort is here, focused on infinite worlds again. Towards the start of the page is an Infinite worlds base template (note the generic 70 points of attributes and 15 points of languages) and the end of the article is a bunch of packages. Some of them are less cinematic versions of existing packages: Cowboy, Computer Intrusion, and Scientist are probably the most useful. It also has a bunch of 10 point lenses representing common low-tech professions, and some infinity specific stuff, like parachronics and paranormal researcher. I've got some other packages I've built for my own use that I ought to share with folks, mostly for ATE and Ultratech. Also, we haven't mentioned pyramid 3/112 yet, which has over two dozen additional templates, covering ultratech, the paranormal, and a bunch of rather distinct identities/professions (ordained priest, animal tamer, celebrity, and so on)

Re: Modular templates
Wrote up a set of weapons templates based on martial arts. Hope you find it useful.
