Re: The Voyages of "The Hiawatha" [Hero Class] : GURPS Traveller
Dr. Chevalier:
"Now, it says here that there are Vargr in this part of the Imperium, too. I am looking forward to seeing that part of creation. Mind you, like Wolfmen of myth. Hey, what are you looking at me? Stealing? Why? No! You minsunderstood me. I wouldnīt suggest displease Allah by suggesting to sell parts of our cargo along the way. Of course I meant buying alike wares like those to sell along the way!"

The Hiawatha is now more or less equidistant from the primary with the gas giant and cruising steadily sunward.

[OOC--For Dr. Chevalier: You have also heard that there are some Vargr pharmaceuticals that can effectively re-grow hair on humans when applied as part of the correct therapy.]

Captain Moon sat quietly in the acceleration couch watching the sensors. "Hrm, the gas giant. If we need the fuel, we can come here."

Re: The Voyages of "The Hiawatha" [Hero Class] : GURPS Traveller
The Hiawatha has no trouble staying on the planned flight path to Prometheus. As you approach the planet, the UpPort in geosynchronous orbit above the main StarPort on the surface comes into view. Prometheus UpPort is not an overly extravagant facility, but there are two large, non-streamlined freighter-type vessels keeping station there. One of them is actually docked with UpPort, while the other is standing off a thousand meters or so. Protocol states that approaching vessels must check-in with UpPort (at those StarPorts that have an UpPort facility) and be properly cleared and queued-up for descent to the main StarPort below. There are only 2 other ships (both small Free Traders) that you can detect loitering about the area expectantly.

Captain Moon Han Eul:
"Prometheus Traffic, this is TSS Hiawatha inbound from Ember, requesting clearance to land at Downport. Transmitting flight plan, cargo manifest, and passenger listing now." |

Prometheus Starport Traffic
"Prometheus Control here -- Roger that, Hiawatha. You're up for descent. Hold your position until you're signalled by an escort. She'll lead you down to your berth." About 3 minutes later, a ship's boat appears, "TSS Hiawatha, all set to hit the dirt? Well, stay on my six and let's go!" The ship's boat waggles it's vanes and flips around to lead you to the DownPort. Your descent is uneventful, and the weather today is almost perfect. Once you have landed successfully, you're led to a short-term berth a Km from the Tower. The Escort pilot, as he heads off to his next assignment, says, "Welcome to Prometheus, Hiawatha. Enjoy your stay!" Last edited by pup67vargr; 08-31-2011 at 09:00 PM. |

Dr. Chevalier:
"A landing escort? Isnīt that a bit unusual", she asks, referring to the appearance of the shipīs boat.

Prometheus StarPort
Once you get the Hiawatha on the ground, Prometheus Control checks back in with you, "We have the cargo information that you filed, Hiawatha, but we understand that some of your cargo is actually headed to another port. How much of a cargo-handling crew do you reckon that you'll need? We have lots of strong backs and low rates, too." |

Silvester O'Donnell
"We'd like 2 forklifts with operators. Hawkin's Pharmaceuticals should have sent several trucks to pick up this cargo, so we will not require storage space." [OOC]According to the Far Trader tables, Break Bulk (Palletized or otherwise) offloads at 30 dTons/hour. So, 77 dTons will take roughly 2h40m to unload. I can't seem to get to invisible castle at the moment, but as soon as I can I'll post a follow-on with a Freight Handling Roll to see if it takes the exact amount of time or less or more. Also, I'll make my Area Knowledge(Prometheus) roll to try to find some speculative cargo and whatever roll is required to find Drop Point shipments. |
