No one's brought up Gadgeteering yet.

I'd like to see-
  • the Metatronic Generators rules, perhaps polished up a little, "officialised", and a bit more generic
  • covering all SMs: lumping "laser pistol" and "mega big starship" into the Advanced category doesn't really work
  • skill/field specialisation: Tony Stark shouldn't be able to Gadgeteer biotech just because he drops a point into Bioengineering
  • rules for components: is Iron Man's suit one Gadget, or is it built by researching 6 different sub-systems?
  • Gadgets as Allies, and when and how to do that
  • Magic Items, Enchantments, runes, flying castles, alchemy, etc, done as variations of Gadgeteering. That is, genericise Gadgeteering from just a Weird Science skill to cover crafting in other genres
  • a bunch of alternative Gadget Quirk tables for different flavours of Gadgeteering
  • Social Gadgeteering in IW saw a bit of use in our Spacefaring Fantasy game, more stuff like that
  • other sundry Gadgeteering stuff that I believe is in Action, MH and Mars Attacks, in one place
  • how to avoid or cope with the Netrunner problem equivalent with Gadgeteers, i.e. Gadgeteering can force a lot of downtime on the team
  • and importantly, how to GM a Gadgeteer, especially of a tech savvy player, so he doesn't just run rings around game balance or get a backdoor to Wealth
  • not exactly Gadgeteering, but a bit about Cybernetics. For example, when should an inbuilt smart phone count as an Accessory Perk instead of trying to write it up as a list of Advantages

I think there was more on my mental wishlist, but it's been a few years since I was playing my Gadgeteer character.

It could probably get into more alternative stuff too, like breaking DX into Digital and Athletic, or IQ into Social, Mathematical/Scientific, Literary and Logical.

Oh my God yes. Though I'd go for Power-Ups: Equipment instead, hopefully that'd include a huge section on Gadgeteering, but frankly it'd be nice to have some expansions and extra detail on the mundane invention rules.

I would totally get a Power-Ups: Gadgeteering book. Actually, a Power-Ups: Inventor PCs would be a bit more appropriate, as that'd cover inventions that aren't made by Gadgeteers as well as those that are.

I actually wrote this up for Pyramid - it's only about 6,000 words and covers the topic pretty well. I need to clean it up more honestly, I've got some more thoughts on prototypes, but you wouldn't necessarily need a book on Gadgeteering to cover just about everything.

Does it cover how to determine the TL and complexity of an invention? Ideally based on the total point-value/individual advantages used to create the Metatronic Generator, 'cause that'd be pretty awesome.

Currently, Techniques need to be broad/often-used and/or easily-stacked in order to be worthwhile. It would be nice to get a PU that (a) makes Techniques generally more affordable, especially narrow ones and (b) makes it so that each major noncombat skill has no fewer than 4 canonical Techniques in the books. Which of course might take a lot of pages, which is probably why it will never happen.
Actually I think a way to do that might be familiarity. And recent thread caused me to think that maybe knowing Morse Code would be a familiarity for people with comm skills, which made me ask what else could familiarities be spent on?

As for what I would really want to see? The rest of Powers, or rather the Advantages not covered to finally be covered, Dominance and Infectious Attack not being covered in that volume defied belief.

My wish for Techniques isn't for the purpose of increasing trait bloat (though that's a risk that has to be consider), but rather for the canonisation of broad tasks that fall under most skills that are relevant to typical campaigns, for each skill, and broad enough that they're worth a [+1/+1] improvement cost. I.e. to a large extent it's a wish to make all skills that are already listed in GURPS become more relevant (or more obvious-how-to-make-relevant) in most campaigns.

In a way, yes.

Two things I'd like to see: scope and applications of optional specializations. Physics and Thaumatology being the two big ones; would Physics (Rocket Science) cover the math behind guided missiles as well as lower stage spacecraft?

Second: Cultural Familiarities: how broad are they? A specific list of all the different cultures on earth would take an encyclopedia by its own, but how far does a familiarity extend? Would it be reasonable to have separate familiarities for older cultures when dealing with people who live in "traditional" or "Orthodox" cultures?

If either of these topics are already covered in the RAW, I'd love to know. I doubt that either subject would deserve an entire supplement on it's own, of course.
