Sacrificial Parry and bonus from shield.
My character's parry score is 15 without a shield, 18 with a shield, due to +3 DB from the shield.
If she parries for another player character using Sacrificial Parry, does she get the +3 DB from the shield? If not, would she get the +3 DB, if she had both Sacrificial Parry perk and Shield-Wall training? This is assuming without any additional ruling from GM. - Naamapokemen Last edited by Naamapokemen; 11-26-2019 at 05:24 AM. Reason: grammar |

Re: Sacrificial Parry and bonus from shield.
I think she should get it, in the system the general rule is shields make it easier for her to parry by adding their DB*, and I can't remember any specific exemption from this general rule under the specific sacrificial parry/defence rules. If the sacrificial parry was successful by 3 or less MoS I'd picture this as the attack hitting the shield, at MoS 4 or more it would contact the parrying weapon.
Having the shield wall perk would negate having to make it a sacrificial parry at all (in some cases) she'll be eligible to defend some attacks on her mate anyway. *maybe that's a question in itself but that's another matter!

Re: Sacrificial Parry and bonus from shield.
Actually that raises a point, I know often making the parry/dodge only due to the DB bonus is interpreted as the attack contacting the shield. But do people play that out in terms of potential damage on weapons / negative effects on parrying some attacks etc?

Another way to interpret it is only having to parry/dodge attacks in a limited area since the attack is avoiding the shield, making the defense roll easier.

The sacrificial parry write-up in Dungeon Fantasy 15: Henchmen specifically states that Shield DB never counts.

Thanks to everyone. I take Gnomasz's reply as the answer.
