Oversized Vehicles and their Power Plants need a serious revamp at very least - most likely a complete overhaul .
Like my suggestions on Cycles it would take a lot a number crunching & a fair amount of support from active players .

After discussion with other long time players in the UK , we came up with a basic framework for our proposals :

Buses : The three standard bodies are fine with a bit of tweaking ;
• Minibus - 36 Spaces and 6 Wheels .
• 30-Foot Bus - 50 Spaces and 6 Wheels with option of 10 Wheels for an extra $500 .
• 40-Foot Bus - 70 Spaces , 6 to 10 Tires ~ a 40'Bus with an Extra-Heavy Chassis must have 10 Wheels .

The 45'Foot , 55'Foot Articulated & 85'Foot Double Articulated from NOVA pages could possible be available with tweaking - I'd make the 85' a Single Articulated & add a 70'Foot Articulated into the mix .

I'll add 10 and 12 Wheel Truck ideas later - cooking with my Girlfriend must take priority ... ;-)

Serving the I75 route from Tampa to Miami, "Wally Gator" the tourist bus is a common sight. With its quirky articulated design and vivid green, gator themed, livery it regularly features on news casts. Wally is well armed and armoured and has an excellent safety records and generous passenger accommodations. With complimentary IBA for the duration of your journey you can be sure of your safety. For your convenience the window seat also features a firing port to allow you to take full advantage of your vacation opportunities (reservation is necessary and seats may be limited in the event additional security personnel are assigned to specific journeys).

In a few well publicised incidents Wally has shown he has real teeth, triple machine gun turrets plus anti-boarding measures and an extensive dropped weapon suite. Each compartment has a dedicated steward who is trained in first aid and point defence.

As Wally could be carrying up to 36 company security specialist in addition to it's regular crew, bandits have learned to steer clear.


There are a few variation on this basic design. With 18 spaces and 3580lb to play with there are plenty of options. Default is 18 passengers each with over 45lb of personal equipment/baggage allowance (loadsa guns!). Wilma sacrifices 6 passenger seats to provide 10 point CA compartments for each pair of passengers, whilst Wilbur them for smart linked triple MG sponsons.

The Gunner station, Computer and Laser battery are in a separate compartment. This can be locked by the driver to prevent hijack. The gunner usually operates the turret and the computer gunner operates any DW's or dischargers. Weapon stations in the Drive Unit override controls in the Passenger Units.

You probably do not need 10pt Wheelhubs on the rear wheels - 4-pts or even Fakes tend work just as well on Vehicles with four Wheels on the back corners . Very few even hardcore dedicated Tire Shooters , have the patience , accuracy , staying power or tactics to blow away 48 points of Tires & 20pts of protection - let alone doing it TWICE to take out all that corner's support ...
Hubs & Guards on the more vulnerable Front Wheels is an extremely good idea . Savvy players & ambushers will often target these to cripple oversized vehicles .

You are correct about the rear tire protection with respect to wheel loss, but in campaigns it still pays to protect as much as possible, you may not have the opportunity to repair/replace the guards before the next wave.

Simple economics also bears on this. A replacement guard is $100, a replacement tyre is $1500 and tyres cannot be repaired. Putting as much sacrificial protection as you can helps put off that expensive day when you decide the tyre damage you have suffered is past the tipping point for replacement.

Also trucks hit a lot of mines, etc. After a truck sets off two TDX mines tire shots start getting hard to resist. Also, doesn't the loss of a single 'back' cause a permanent HC loss?

Not forgetting Cluster Bombs & Scatterpacks dropped by low flying Aircraft as well .
In a Convoy it's always worth carrying a few Spare Tires in any unused Cargo Spaces . Making any Escort Cars only one or two Body types cuts down the range of Tire sizes carried . A smallish Trailer on the back of a Bus or ¼ of the space on a Cheap 40' Trailer both work .

It's a little confusing (not least because it is split over two separate pages), and even the expanded text on 12 seems contradictory. I am using 2.5 rules. I am also ignoring the hazards in this review.

From P 8.
1) Any vehicle that loses all its wheels in one position (usually just one
wheel, but oversized vehicles can have two or four) has its HC reduced
by 3 permanently, starting on the next turn. If only the tire(s) are lost,
HC drops by only 2.

From P 12.
2) Losing the last wheel or tire on a corner drops the vehicle’s handling
class by 2 if only the tire(s) are lost, or by 3 if the whole wheel was lost.

3) If the vehicle has more than one wheel at that corner, all wheels must be intact, or handling class is reduced by 3.

If you lose a wheel on a multi-wheel corner, you drop HC by 3 (3).
If you lose the last wheel on a corner, you drop HC by a further 3 (2 and 1).
If you lose the last tire on a corner, you drop HC by 2 (2 & 1).

3 sounds inconsistent and creates the odd situation that if you have a pair of wheels on corner loosing both is a collective 6 HC loss, whereas if you only had 1 wheel losing it would only be a 3 HC loss. I suspect it it a hangover from an earlier rule set that wasn't properly integrated.

I have always played it that losing each tire/wheel is a hazard, but you have to lose all the tires/wheels on a corner to suffer the permanent HC loss (and immediate drop to -6 HS).

It's times like the this that a basic online 'Living Rulebook' would come in bloody handy ... I posted on here about having years ago , as it worked so well for GW's Battlefleet Gothic . Okay I did help write parts of that , and pointed out glaring rules errors but still .
It would also cut down on the endless (and often contradictory) Errata webpages , rules sheets & penciled in changes to CWC2.5 & UACFH ...

Unfortunately: A "living rulebook" is what we had back-when; and it's the *reason* we have all these contradictory rulings -- one guy would rule one way; then he'd be replaced, and the new guy would rule another way. So I'm not quite as enamored of the notion of a "living rulebook" as you are.
