Sprawl
Default: prerequisite skill.
Prerequisite: Any unarmed combat skill. Cannot exceed prerequisite skill +4.

May be used instead of the prerequisite skill when parrying an incoming grapple. If the roll is exactly that required for success, both combatants will end up in a kneeling position.

It might be interesting to put some conditions or events on breaking apart after a successful sprawl but that's probably overkill.

It is there.

In Martial Arts. IDHMBWM, so I can't tell you the page number, but it's in the index.

Basically, you choose not to resist a takedown in exchange for which you end up on top and ungrappled. So if you're a "Sprawl and Brawl" type MMA fighter, you can just stand up again on your next action instead of getting sucked into a ground game.

RAW, it's not an improvable technique, but I think it's reasonable that some fighters train it enough to at least justify a perk that would give them some bonus.

Oh, that's not the definition of sprawl I was thinking of. Terminology issue.

EDIT: Actually it does kind of fit some situations depending on the point of impact between the fighters. I think I should stop wittering now.

Ah, sorry. I was relying on my memory of the Techniques section and Sprawl actually isn't "there". I see it on p.119 but I guess I've never needed enough extra rules for conducting Close Combat to study that part of the book.

<shrug> Told ya I didn't care about MMA. :)
