Re: Help with Character planning and optimization and tactics?
So if I wanted a Cheap Heavy Mail as torso armor, and I wanted it to cover upper arms, and go down his legs a bit, and I wanted a pot helm with nasal and spectacles, and some sturdy gloves and boots, and maybe some kind of under armor padding, and then clothes.... how the heck would I price this out??
How would YOU guys price out 'basic Viking chain armor'?? |

Basic Viking Mail Armor $1357, 32.21 lbs Cheap Heavy Mail Hauberk with padding DR 4*, $792, 24.75 lbs. Iron Pot Helm with Nasal and Spectacles with padding DR 4, $230, 2.96 lbs. (Give wearer No Peripheral Vision) Boots DR2, $80, 2 lbs. Gloves DR 1 v. Cutting $15, 0.5 lb. (Give wearer Bad Grip 1 and Ham Fisted 1) Status 1 Ordinary Clothes $240, 2 lbs. The hauberk covers the upper arms, shoulders, torso, groin, abdomen, and thighs. The Pot helm covers the skull and gives you a 2/6 chance of a face hit getting DR 3. Personally I don't know if I'd allow cheap mail in this time period. Last edited by Crakkerjakk; 04-06-2011 at 11:29 PM. |

I'm tryyyiinng! I'm looking at that book RIGHT NOW. But I am totally failing to 'get' this! I don't know enough about the hit locations and stuff to model this...

The helm looks like a plate pot helm with a nasal.

For your gloves and boots, we just pull them from LT98. For your ordinary clothes we do the same, Cost of Living for a Status 1 person is $1200 (B265), so 20% of that is $240. For your helmet, we look at LT110, use the DR 3 iron cuirass the example lists under the Pot Helm entry as a base and add a Nasal and Spectacles, each of which add 5% to the weight and cost of the helm. So we multiply $200 and 1.6 lbs by 1.1, and then add the $10 and 1.2 lbs for padding to get the extra DR. You could probably drop down to cheaper clothing for stuff you're wearing under your armor, and save the spendy clothes for the feasthall. Last edited by Crakkerjakk; 04-07-2011 at 06:24 AM. |
