Default Run-Time Error '5' - Invalid procedure Call or Argument

Hi,

I keep getting this error after futzing around with one character in GCA. I don't even think I changed anything, so I have no idea why. Does anyone know how to check the file for why this is happening?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I downloaded the character to take a look, and all I can see in that file is the character header info, and then a whole lot of NULL characters.

In other words, that character is fully borked, and I have no idea how it could get that messed unless there was a file system error or something. Or maybe it didn't transfer to OneDrive correctly.

The sum total I see for the character is this:

Code:
Encoding=UTF-8
[System]
version(3)
lastkey(281)
dataset(%user%\default.gds)
datafile(%sys%\GURPS Basic Set 4th Ed.--Characters.gdf)
datafile(%sys%\GURPS Ultra-Tech 4e.gdf)
datafile(%sys%\GURPS Low-Tech 4e.gdf)
datafile(%sys%\GURPS Martial Arts 4e.gdf)

followed by a ridiculous number of NULLs.

If you want to check the file on your end: see if it opens with Notepad and has more than those few lines of info at the top.

If it looks good, you can then email the ZIPped character to me at gca4 at misersoft dot com and I'll look at it to see if I can figure out the issue.

If it only has those same or similar lines, then something bad happened on your machine, and I'm afraid it's lost. Delete and start over, at that point. Or, if available, retrieve from backup.

Yeah, looks like it's just gone. I have no idea why, but thank you for trying.
