Part of the reason I've been writing the entire fraction instead of just "8 FP" or so is to make it more easily searchable but neglected to check the next. Okay so I had previously spent 2 AP (lowering me from 12/12 to 10/12) to widen the distance from 4 to 6 yards. I'm going to do that again, (10/12 to 8/12) to make that 8 yards. |

Re: A Challenger Appears! Green versus Red
Red will calmly walk towards his foe. If the other refuses to engage, does he get a timeout victory?
All out defense.

Re: A Challenger Appears! Green versus Red
What kind? Determined Dodge as you've done before would give you the option of using up to half your move for 1 AP.
(it might be unbalanced to allow you to pay for that using your free AP since that would make it more affordable than using Move maneuvers..) It occurs to me there's a bit of a pricing weirdness... 1) if you pay to move half your move either via AOA forward or AOD:DD in any direction, would you still get your 'free step' to use on a retreat, or would that be considered used up as part of your initial Movement Points application? 2) even so, I think if you lost your free step, you could spend half of those 2 free AP to buy the step you need to retreat anyway Since you said "calmly walk" I'll assume you just moved 1 hex forward (8 yards to 7 yards) and will avoid the question of what type of AOD you chose by not giving you an active defense. Instead, I will take a Defensive Attack (8AP>7AP) maneuver (+1 to parry), use my free step to go back to 8 yards, and then my attack will be a "Ranged Feint" (MA121: Tricky Shooting). I will assume you opt to resist the feint (and allow you to pay the AP required for that technique out of the 2 free AP AOD gets) and we will only resolve that contest if you make an active defence next turn. What is your next maneuver? |

Re: A Challenger Appears! Green versus Red
Determined dodge, yes.
Red resists the feint and steps forward again, with AoD, dodge With the free step, it'd feel very weird to get half of your move AND a free step. I'd allow half move OR a free step, but not both. I'm not sure what the fair price for that half move in AP is though. Did we switch to doug's full move is 2 AP rule? I agree you should always be able to retreat, and that you could pay for it out of the 2 AP.

Re: A Challenger Appears! Green versus Red
You narrow distance from 7 to 6.
HT roll was a 7, eight less than 15 (11+4) so I recover 3 AP (7/12 > 10/12) I'm going to use a Ready maneuver to switch from holding the laces to holding the base of the shoe. I simply can't absorb penalties to get fancy. free step 6>7 again Last edited by Plane; 05-28-2019 at 09:49 AM. |

My evaluate Ht roll was a 9, MoS 2 v 11, AP boosts from 10/12 to 11/12 I'm evaluating again but this time I'll step forward, distance narrowed from 6 to 5. |
