Re: Melee/Wizard newbie question
Summon Myrmidon comes with a weapon, so perhaps one could research Summon Weapon?

Re: Melee/Wizard newbie question
Hmm, or give a real archer illusory arrows! Free ammo, as long as the target believes they are real. Kind of ST expensive for a cheap item, but perhaps useful deep in the quest when the archer has run out of real arrows.

Re: Melee/Wizard newbie question
What if the archer shoots an unaware target with an illusory arrow? He had no idea it was coming, so how could he believe in it? This could be the case even in melee, not only for surprise attacks.

Re: Melee/Wizard newbie question
I think that agrees with RAW, but my understanding is that an archer might be loathe to dry-shoot their bow.

Re: Melee/Wizard newbie question
I don't recall the rules saying anything about an illusion not being able to attack from the rear or anything, which suggests that knowing the illusion is there isn't a factor. Illusions are an interesting feature to TFT, but come with lots of questions.

Re: Melee/Wizard newbie question
Even if it's not in LITL (no, I haven't actually checked) wasn't it in writing somewhere at one time, perhaps in Advanced Wizard, that images and illusions could not have detachable parts, and that illusions of inanimate objects was prohibited to avoid all the funky, gamey circumstances that could arise?

Re: Melee/Wizard newbie question
So, at your tables, how would you folks rule on an illusion of Magic Rainstorm? Is it unlawful because of how the water its broken into droplets? Or is the curtain of rain considered a single thing, but it can't leave water behind if it moves, which could be a bit of a giveaway? This came up once in my experience, and the GM kindly let the illusion stand to defeat a fire elemental. If he hadn't, it would have been a total party kill, so that could have colored his judgement.
