The classic example of this of course is H. Beam Piper's "Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen" Which along with Piper's Paratime Cops stories was the biggest influence IW has. Pennsylvania State Trooper Corporal Calvin Morrision ends up on a Parallel where the peoples who became the Indo Europeans in our world went East intead of west and crossed the Siberian Alaskan landbridge.

"Kalvan" as he becomes known had studied 30 years war tactics and knew how to make gunpowder, a secret then only known to the priests of Styphon.

Paracop aid help make the almost supernatural seeming Kalvan Great King.

I think ISWAT training would include warnings about not letting it happen, emphasizing case histories where it went disastrously wrong.

What they'd do about it would depend on whether and when they found out about it (they're spread awfully thin), and what form the hero worship took. Adding a mysterious disappearance to the hero's "legend" would be a common solution, I'd expect (i.e. pulling the PC out of that timeline).

They'd regard it as a nuisance. They are fundamentally a covert agency and the scrutiny created by fame would create the risk of exposure.
