I am with you on this, but I thought I'd throw out the question.

Who buys regrowth without regeneration? I mean, unbreakable bones are so much better if you can't regrow things quickly.

Regrowth without regeneration is far more plausible biologically than unbreakable bones. Many real creatures have Regrowth, none have Unbreakable Bones.

<confuzzled> Is that the same thing I was saying?

There is an implicit form of Regrowth attached to Unkillable levels two and three, since your body comes back whole when you finally recover. Since it only works when you are "dead", it seems like the -40% limiter for Regeneration would apply.

Entities limited by their templates and/or campaign restrictions.

For example, Deadlands Harrowed (3e version) had Regrowth (Reattachment) without Regeneration. It's also a possible mix for Bio-tech species alteration (though I wouldn't set things up that way).

What is the reason that this kind of thing can't change canonically?

I wouldn't like it if point values and rules shifted around every year or two, but a one time update in X years would be seem doable to me.

It won't happen before fifth edition, and that's a long way away.

Didn't 3E revised and the compendiums change some point values for 3E? IIRC Contacts was one of the overpriced advantages.

I would have thought that there was more chance of having something similar happen to 4E than a whole new edition.

Yeah but that was kind of a mess.
