Default Truly Obnoxious Curse! and Knight Light

So recently I was playing Munchkin with my family, and we came across an interesting situation. A Truly Obnoxious Curse! (Lose the item that gives you the biggest bonus) was played on a player who only had the Helm of Courage (+1 Bonus) and the Knight Light (+2 Bonus). Now this sparked a debate of whether or not he should be forced to get rid of both the Helm of Courage and the Knight Light, or just the Knight Light. On one side, it was argued that the Knight Light is worn over the Helm of Courage, and thus they count as the same item and have to both be gotten rid of, however the other side said that since the Knight Light can be its own item and that it can be removed from the Helm of Courage, that he should be able to just get rid of it and not the Helm of Courage. We couldn’t decide amongst ourselves, and couldn’t seem to find any information online about this kind of a situation. So would he have to get rid of both items, or just the one?

You could be made to lose the Knight Light by itself, but if something makes you lose the Helm of Courage, you lose the Knight Light as well.
