Default Spartan Games out of business

The mini's workshop Spartan Games recently closed. I remember reading that SJ Games was going to invest in 3d printers and laser cutters. What do you
think, is there any chance they would be interested in acquiring the property and IP rights to some of their products and reproducing them?

As I said elsewhere, GURPS is a good match for Halo.

The Halo property disappeared from the Spartan Games website even before they announced their closure.

The product line they made didn't use laser cutters or 3D printers (except maybe for prototyping parts), their production items were good old resin and spin-cast white metal -- and for Halo, the initial releases were injection molded items -- though later releases were also resin.

I have a suspicion the licensing costs of Halo are part of what killed Spartan.

I get the impression they got a really good deal.

What they couldn't do was produce new product fast enough, while trying to have multiple lines at the same time (even starting a new one this year) while only having two people who were working on all of them.

Too Bad. I run a summer game for the boys that boils down to "Pirates of the Caribbean smashed into Lord of the Rings, run in GURPS 4th Ed" and I have a number of the miniatures (mostly painted) from their Uncharted Seas line. Nothing better than unleashing an Orcish warship on the PC's little ship to see what they will do.

It's been reported that Warcradle Studios has bought the 'Dystopian' and 'Firestorm' product lines, and will be re-offering them. One of their blog entries asked if anyone who had been employed by Spartan wanted a job, to talk to them ...

So there is hope.
