hydrogen dragon question

If a player hss a fire/flame attack equipped and kicks open the door and fights a hydrogen dragon, can the other players use polymorph potion or any other card that makes the monster disappear?or is the monster just defeated automatically and nothing can be done? I've played several times when this happens.
