removing monsters from combat
If a monster gets discarded during combat with a something that specifically says discard, like with a ranger or retroactive continuity potion, when does it go to the discard pile? Is it during combat or after?

Re: removing monsters from combat
In theory, it should go into the discard pile, but I have a tendency to set them apart if the card forcing the Monster out of the combat says that the Treasure is still rewarded. What's the context behind the question such that it would matter if the Monster card is in the discard pile or not?

Re: removing monsters from combat
One of the players had a Mask of Avalon and the issue came up regarding a ranger taming a monster and discarding his old tamed monster steed and somebody else playing Retroactive Continuity on another monster. When it hits the discard affects whether the mask can bring it into combat.

If there's a reason to keep the monster around, you shouldn't discard it immediately. If there's no reason to keep it around, go ahead and discard it if you want.

Re: removing monsters from combat
If the monster, even while discarded, has some effect on the combat (for instance, a Wizard charms it and needs to know how many Treasures it has), then you should keep it out of the discard pile so you can refer to it more easily.
If there is no such reason, then go ahead and discard the monster.
