Radioactive mutant powers don't exist, but there is a zombie plague caused by alien nanobots that try and "repair" there hosts but because humans don't have the same biochemistry as the aliens did it turns most people infected into zombies. The parties self insert characters wore test subjects for a government project to reprogram the nanobots for human biology so they all got the benefits from the ReViv™-ified zombie template in GURPS Zombies. I don't see a reason why more exotic or otherwise sentient nano infected couldn't exist.

As for TL weapons the setting was on the verge of hitting TL9 when the game takes place I've already confirmed the existence of Gyro weapons and vehicle mounted laser weaponry.

Would it be possible for anyone to put together a few gladiator templates long the lines of what Clockwork_Virus proposed?
  • The scrawny, malnourished slave fodder
  • The standard half-crazed "psychos", like the Mad Max Road Warriors, with chains and picks or something equally brutal and unorthodox.
  • The bigger and badder "professional" Gladiators who may or may not be super mutants and use things like spiked baseball bats and sledgehammers.

Ok guys I'm talking to Jerry right now and he's expressed interest in taking the bones of his fallen enemies and crafting weapons and armor out of them. Any idea how I'd stat them?

The rules for weapons made of bone are given on Low-Tech p.71 (basically, reduced damage and highly prone to breaking). Bone Armor is discussed on page 106.

Well, remember you won't need full write-ups for opponents, just the relevant stats and skills. For example:

Malnurished Slave:
Someone in the same position as your PC, but with a better weapon.

ST 9 DX 10 IQ 10 HT 9.
HP 9 FP 9 Speed 5 Dodge 8 Parry 8
Skinny, Unfit
Skills: Axe/Mace 10
Equipment: Light Club (A fiberglass Axe-Handle), skill 10, 1d-1 Crushing, Parry 8, reach 1.

Crazed Cannibal Champion
Has been here long enough and won enough fights that he now has a taste for human flesh. A fan favorite--one fan paid to have his teeth replaces with metal fangs.

St 13 Dx 11 Iq 9 Ht 9
HP 15 FP 9 Speed 5 Dodge 8 Parry 9
Sharp Teeth (metal implants), Berserk, High Pain Threshold, Overweight
Skills: Brawling 12 (Punch 1d-1), Wrestling 10
Equipment: Boxing Hand-wraps covered in Barbed Wire:Skill 12, 1d Crushing, Dr 1 (Hands Only), Reach C.
Bite Damage 1d Cutting.

Ok, I actually went off and created two quick characters using Martial Arts templates.

Duelist

First up is the basic fighter. They are built on 100/-40 build and tend to be a mix between the first and the second request on the list. They aren't quite as skilled at knives as the other fellow, but they do have quite a few techniques that does make it so that they have a few choices in combat. Their high feint skill should be able to reduce Jerry's defenses while a successful parry on their part could trigger a spinning counterattack.

On the downside, they are malnourished and suffer quite badly from nightmares. Due to that latter disadvantage, you can always do a quick roll to see if they suffer from the -1 to skill and perception during the fight.

The Contender

The Tough Guy Contender, a 200/-40 build that uses a very aggressive martial art style. He just barely has enough ST to lift and use that sledgehammer without it becoming unready. Add that to a large amount of HP and he becomes a powerhouse.

The downside to the sledgehammer is that he isn't as skilled with that and could potentially do more damage with his punches and kicks. But if he drops his hammer when going berserk, it's probably a good idea to watch out.

This could potentially be a battle where Jerry has to be partnered up for the gladiators, depending on how you want the fight to play out.

As Landwalker has said, LT does have the stats for making weapons and armor out of bones. One thing to watch out for is that he doesn't have Armory skill for making either armor or melee weapons so it should probably be rather hard for him to actually get anything other than a cheap bone shiv since he'd be rolling at a default of IQ-5.

This is very true. I just write up characters and templates because I get bored and like to flesh things out beyond just having a Stat Block.

I agree that this is too priceless to pass up. It cries out for a Ben Hur-style motorcycle race around the colosseum, with more guys who definitely include the rabbi because why wouldn't they, and only this guy has Driving (Motorcycle)... Give 'em each a bullwhip and a quart of guzzeline and let 'em go at it! :]

Stats forthcoming after work.

Name: Dick C. Normis, Post-Apocalyptic Gay Neo-Nazi Biker / Slave Gladiator [100]:

Image: A strapping young white man with a shaved head, usually dressed in a more-or-less macho but well-put-together and somewhat sexually-provocative outfit involving awesome boots and a lot of leather and denim and gang colors. It may have a few rips, tears, and blood stains, but never in a way that makes him look bad.

Culture: TL: 8-9ish? [0]; Familiarity: Post-Apocalypse [0]; Languages: English (Native / Native) [0];

Attributes: ST 13 [30]; DX 12 [40]; IQ 10 [0]; HT 12 [20];

Secondary: Dam 1d / 2d-1; BL 34#; Spd 6.0 [0]; Mov 6 [0]; HP 14 [2]; FP 12 [0]; Per 10 [0]; Will 11 [5];

Advantages: Appearance (Attractive) [4]; Combat Reflexes [15]; Fashion Sense [5]; Fearlessness +2 [4];

Perks: Brave [1]; Classic Features (Skinhead) [1]; Improvised Weapons (Whip) [1]; Sartorial Integrity [1];

Disadvantages: Intolerance (Pretty much everybody different; barely even tolerates straight Neo-Nazi bikers) [-10]; Social Stigma (Valuable Property) [-10]; Wealth (Dead Broke) [-25];

Quirks: Casual Intoxicant Enthusiast [-1]; Mildly Bad-Tempered [-1]; Proud [-1]; Social Stigma (Intentionally Not Helping to Repopulate) [-1];

Skills: Axe/Mace (A) DX-1 [1]-11; Brawling (E) DX+2 [4]-14; Driving (A) (Motorcycle) DX [2]-12; Flail (H) DX-2 [1]-10; Intimidation (A) Will [2]-11; Philosophy (H) (Nazi Ideology) IQ-2 [1]-8; Public Speaking (A) IQ-1 [1]-9; Streetwise (A) IQ [2]-10; Whip (A) DX-1 [1]-11;

Techniques: Stamp Kick (H) (Brawling) Def+3 [4]-14; Uppercut (A) (Brawling) Def+1 [1]-14;

Notes: This guy's reaction boni and meager Public Speaking are enough to make him a crowd favorite in this event, even if he is perpetually cast as a heel. He's actually not entirely bothered by his current living situation, because he gets three hots and a cot in a stable with a bunch of guys and is cheered at for brutalizing people he dislikes. The bosses will take steps to prevent his death despite desiring his defeat, including frequently providing him with a pink motorcycle helmet when nobody else gets one of any color in events that involve motorcycles and / or clubbing over the head.
