Fun pics, that pile-up in the center looks crazy!

You used 2.5e rules? 5 phase? Which fire rules?

The Battlemachines look good in that arena, and the glass cubes give enough light, but still giving the cramped-aisle feel.

The tangle was quite entertaining. It featured multiple rams (including a 75 mph ram car rear ending a nearly stopped car), bank shots from lasers going around corners, several cars catching fire, more dropped weapons than you can shake a stick at, an armed pedestrian climbing into the back of an opposing pickup (a couple of explosive MG rounds from another competitor fixed that problem), a four tire blowout, a vehicular explosion that caught several other cars, and multiple random flame jets from the bunkers being rolled in the middle of it. Still working on the write up.

2.5 rules with the advanced fire rules from the Compendium. The mirrored surfaces on the walls also allowed lasers to make bank shots around corners at -2 to hit per bounce (we used a laser pointer). One thing that we did which seemed to help keep track of firing actions and speed changes is that I made up a bunch of cards (business card sized), with either "speed change action" or "driver firing action" on them. When people wanted to do either they held the appropriate card up to get the refs' attention. When they resolved it, they tossed the card in a pile on the table. At the end of second, when they recovered HC, they also picked up one of each of the cards if they didn't already have one. It worked pretty well and took the load off of me for remembering who had performed the various actions.

It was a bit cramped. Properly scaled turn keys didn't fit. I made up some custom sticks to use for movement and turning. I also chopped up a few regular scale turn keys into small angle pieces that could also be used for turns. It did look good. We had more than a few people stop by to take pictures.

[nod] I'm seeing this more often at cons -- invariably, the gaming area is Noisy, so refs have moved to visual aids (which has the unintended side-effect of making the gaming areas *less* noisy :) ).

I'm borrowing the 'Firing Action' and 'Driver Speed Change Action' cards idea for our next event. That would make it so much easier for everyone!
