Leveling Up During Combat

If I am fighting multiple monsters and I kill the first one, do I instantly level up and add the level bonus to fight the next monster... and so on? Or do I have to kill ALL monsters and only gain the one level up bonus?

You fight all of the monsters at the same time (ie- adding up all Levels and bonuses on both sides). If you win, you gain the levels for each monster you kill, otherwise you must run away from each of them, one at a time.
