Default Using hoods

A common trope in fantasy is the warrior with hood

I wonder. What are the consecuences in rules therms of wearing a hood (both in combat and out-of-combat)? Maybe you dont have peripheral vision and all non-front attacks must be considered wild swings?

How much should cost an advantage to cancel all the bad things of wearing the hood? Only a perk, or maybe more?

Those sound like reasonable restrictions to me. If "warrior fighting with hood with no restrictions" is a built-in trope of your campaign, then just let warriors do that, no special rule required. If it's particular only to certain characters, a perk allowing it makes sense to me, since it's really just a fashion statement on the part of those warriors.

If it's a cinematic setting, hoods don't affect you in any way. On the other hand, in a realistic setting, hoods would affect peripheral vision to a considerable degree.

GURPS Low-Tech, pp. 111-112, discusses sensory effects of various sorts of head protection. I suggest taking a look and comparing hoods with what's given there.

They might give a -1 to people trying to identify you.

And something about it being harder for others to predict your intentions because they can't tell where you are looking, etc.

How do you model hood as DR which probably helps more against burning/corrosive damage better than it does crushing/impaling?

By giving it split DR.

If you had 2 pools of DR, the other would keep protecting just fine even after the other was wiped out, that seems odd.

That's my take. Any setting where I would allow Perk: Not negatively affected by hood, I doubt I would apply any penalties to hoods.
