Re: Aura and my Weapon
Ah, I was only looking under Blood Agent on the same page, that explains it. I still think the only difference is you can't un-aura your blood, not that auras don't normally damage your stuff.

I would like to understand the pricing elements "50%" and "10%"... Do you mean "follow-up" is worth an extra 50% if universal? And then, that giving such enhancement to aura would be an extra 10%? Example: The aura costs 10 CP, and having aura with universal follow-up up results in 11 CP (?) Thank you,

Re: Aura and my Weapon
When you take off the 30% for Melee, the 80% for Aura has a net cost of 50% which is the same as Follow-Up universal. They seem pretty similar in that they're a free attack you get on to of your melee attacks. Can anyone think of any diferences aside from following?
1) Follow-Up Universal explicitly piggybacks on weapon attacks, Aura doesn't specify that 2) FUU is a penetration modifier, so it can't be given stuff like Armor Divisor like an Aura can 3) Aura will hit people who hit you, FUU is dependent on you making attacks 4) FUU will ignore DR if its carrier penetrates it, Aura presumably is affected separately by DR even if you penetrate it with whatever melee attack you use to make contact |

Re: Aura and my Weapon
Alright, power ups 1 & 4 mention follow-Up Universal; it is a sort of cosmic enhancement priced +50%.
It costs +10% as an "Alternative Enhancement" because Alternative Enhancements cost 1/5 of the original cost as long as you employ one enhancement at a time. It was previously mentioned as “alternate” instead of “alternative” so I could not find it right away. Quote:
Most probably, the main difference between aura and follow-up is this:
So, if have the ability “burning attack”, then I could provide it with the aura enhancement or the follow-up-universal enhancement. They could work at the same time or they could work separately, if they work separately then I pay 1/5 for cheaper enhancement.

Re: Aura and my Weapon
The more I think about it, I'd suggest that you price it as a separate IA with the appropriate melee limitation. It's not related to your aura directly and if you defend with it, you'll need Destructive Parry (powers) rather than letting the attack hit you.

Re: Aura and my Weapon
I'd argue that an aura that damages your equipment would be more of a disadvantage or an attack that you'd cast at other people than something you'd put on yourself. I'd say that not only does an Aura not directly damage your load up to Xheavy Encumberance but there are no secondary effects. I.E. your phone isn't friend by the EM field from your lightning Aura and your potions don't dry out from the heat off your flame aura.

Re: Aura and my Weapon
You could also just do "Cosmic, Weapon Aura" (+50%) and call it a day. Your aura is included in your weapons and damages your target with your aura when you hit them.

This was a list of DIFFERENCES. Do you think an Aura can be a carrier? Recall any pertinent text? |
