Default Re: Tank magazines

What would guys consider reasonable ammunition numbers for various Tanks/ Tank Destroyers ?

Examples :

30-Space Tank with RFTG .

60-Space Tank with TG9 .

60-Space Tank Destroyer with Hull Mounted TG10 .

72-Space Tank with Turreted TG10 .

90/92-Space Tank with Twin TG9s .

100-Space Tank Destroyer with Hull Mounted TG12 .

120-Space Tank with both a TG10 & RFTG in Turret .

150-Space Tank with Twin Turreted TG10s .

180/200-Space Tank with Triple Turreted TG9s & Hull Mounted RFTG .

Asking experienced members of our Group , I've been given wildly different numbers !

All CA did was add DP -- when one is getting hit by 6-8d6 volleys, 10 added DP doesn't amount to much. Now, if one had been able to add-on to CA a CASM function ("when plant explodes, Top armor is destroyed, but rest of vehicle is undamaged"), that might have been a bit more useful.

Well, for the tanks I designed for "1st Nebraska Volunteer Armored Division": The 15-ton "scout" carried 20 rounds for the RFTG, and 40 for the MG with Prox-fuse Explosive ammo; the 30-ton "main battle tank" carries *60* rounds for both the TG9 and the Prox-fuse Explosive ammo MG. (In case you're wondering about that MG: I'm a long-service David Drake fan, and... well, does the phrase "Automatic Air Defense" ring any bells? >:) )

In general: I'd look at "real" tank designs, and use those as a basis for how much ammo to put on board (measured in "seconds of fire").

Yeah that's more less what I went for : 60 Space Tank had only two Crew & a Computer Gunner for mainly AA Defense .
Turreted TG9 had two Coaxial HMGs with Explosive Rounds & extra Duel Weapon Magazine . Anti Air was mostly handled by a Four Space Universal Turret with two more Long Barreled Auto & Weapon Stabilized HMGs . Auto Stabs were also mounted in that Turret to save space in AFV Turret . As all 4 HMGs were LB & Auto Stabilized , we allowed them to be Smartlinked together . Great if you needed something else targeted in same arc as Main Gun .

Ammo for main Gun : 30 Shots HE , 20 Shots HESH , 20 Shots APFSDS . With options to remove 2nd Coxial HMG & some equipment for 1-3 extra TG9 Mags .

30 Space Scout Tank had 30 Shots for RFTG & Coaxial HMG - with option to make HMG mount Universal for an extra Space . It had only a Driver & Computer Gunner in main version . Also had a Large AFV Power Plant & could hit 100Mph - much to the confusion & shock of our opponents !!
Other versions had a Medium PP , Gunner & Bow HMG as well . We also had an unmanned Decoy Model with cheaper Armour , tons of Hot Smoke , decoys and sometimes remote Sensors in EWP Pods .

My had the full Comp.Driver/Gunner setup -- because who doesn't want a 30-ton tank which does KITT Impressions? >:)

Villain: "I have you now!"

[30-ton tank performs Dynamic Entry through wall, slides to stop between Heroes and Villain, main gun aimed at Villain]

Hero: "You were saying?"

Vader in an episode of Knight Rider … with KITT as a 30 ton tank? Can Hasselhoff's hair fit through the hatch? =]
