First Painted Minis
Well...mostly painted.
I got an airbrush for my birthday and have spent the last few weeks testing and trying out various paints and techniques. After some rather dismal failures, I went back to my tried and true Tamiya rattle can for priming and Tamiya paints, slightly thinned, for the base coating. They aren't perfect, but they are a lot better than they were last week. And, with the airbrush, I could easily knock a few dozen minis in an hour. So, I'll be ready for the next battle. I still have some detail work to do. I think I'm going to paint the MkIV bright blue with two red stripes on the front fenders. The tanks were actually pretty tricky. The airbrush kept blowing them off my finger. I need to get some poster putty. https://drive.google.com/file/d/13Js...ew?usp=sharing |

Re: First Painted Minis
You're too hard on yourself! Those look fine, and truth be told your camo is better than mine.
If you're truly dissatisfied and want to go further, you'll be surprised how much they "come to life" if you do nothing more than grab a brush and pick out details...even if you skip the gun barrels entirely. Hit the missile nose cones, throw a couple coats of a charcoal gray (or an extremely dark green) wash in between the drive wheels of the treads, and pick out the seams between plates and things with a forest green or a hunter green wash [I'd recommend against black, it'll add way too much contrast and look cartoony]
