Stupid question; manned Ogres?
So, in spite of my buying and playing the computer version of Ogre, I actually hadn't touched the game since 1984 or thereabouts, so I'm not up on my Ogre lore.
As a measure to combat cyber fortresses gone rogue, was there ever a thought within the fiction to just build an Ogre platform, but man it instead of letting a paranoid electronic brain run the thing? |

Re: Stupid question; manned Ogres?
According to GURPS OGRE Page 16:
China fielded "cybertanks" similar to the Mark3 called Dragons. Captured Dragons were found to be crewed with AI capacity little more than that of a typical unit. As far as I know, this is the only official mention of manned OGREs.

Re: Stupid question; manned Ogres?
Interesting. I snagged a copy off of Amazon after you mentioned it. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Stupid question; manned Ogres?
One of the (paused indefinitely) Assault Packs - _Ice Dragon_ had some proposed rules for manned Ogres. If you have access to the kickstarter I think you can see the rules.

Re: Stupid question; manned Ogres?
No - that's the Board Game Geek counters.
"Ice Dragon" - "Dragon" because the manned ogres are Chinese. "Ice" because it includes rules for frozen lakes (which melts and drops units to the bottom) and tundra (which melts into swamp). |
