True. But even then he usually had a shirt or tunic of some kind. He may have been unarmored, but he wasn't shirtless.

(two blades opposite).
It's exactly that thing mentioned on p. 18 of GURPS Low-Tech Companion 2.

It functions as a quarterstaff that does cutting damage on swung attacks and impaling damage on thrusting attacks. Either blade can strike, or both can be used to "cross-check" adjacent opponents -- treat as a Dual-Weapon Attack for full cutting damage. $1,500, 10 lbs., ST 12.
Note that this weapon is listed under the Cinematic Weapons section, which means that this weapon functions only in a universe where "Physics and biomechanics go right out the window, as performance has little to do with apparent materials and design, or with the user’s size and strength" (LTC 2, p. 16).

If I remember right, there were several times in his career (especially early on) when Conan was shirtless, or described as only wearing a loincloth-- but it wasn't because he was brazenly standing his ground against multiple attackers. It was usually because he was swimming or thieving or doing something that required mobility.

It's just been kind of flanderized over the years into what we saw in the original Conan movie that people think he was some kind of nudist berserker

That looks like an excellent way to stab yourself in the gut, even with cinematic rules.

But Darth Dumbass wants to looook coooool.
I'd rather have sword chucks. :)

Having a weapon that loudly cries that you care nothing for defense or sanity, you just want to kill something might have some intimidation factor.

Stupidity does not raise your intimidation factor.

Come on, now. Sword chucks are so 17th century.

What the modern man wants are chainsaw chucks.

There's actually a pretty long history of civilizations accusing "primitive" foreigners of being nudists, berserkers, or nudist berserkers. I suspect humans started doing it to each other shortly after someone invented the loincloth. :D See, for example, the Romans and the Picts. (Hint: you can't paint yourself with woad, it's toxic and burns the skin)

Conan is just the lastest victim of this kind of slander :D Also an excellent example of the evolution of mythology to incorporate elements from other sources into an unrelated story (Oddly, here I'm reminded of how Maid Marian got into Robin Hood stories, eventually)

Or like slamming Merlin and Lancelot into King Arthur.
