two-bladed sword
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for rule for two-bladed sword.
(two blades opposite). Need a specific skill or you can use a sword or stick? gives more damage than a normal sword? Paring better? tnxs |

It'd probably give normal damage for a staff (not a sword), but with cutting damage instead of crushing. That's likely less than a sword's damage. It'd be used with Staff skill, not any Sword skill. It'd also give the staff's parrying bonus, so yeah, it'd parry better. I'd also put a big default penalty on it, and maybe just plain make it harder to use than a normal staff (call it Cheap Balance, for a -1 to skill). |

Re: two-bladed sword
There are cinematic rules for this weapon in LTC II. The essence is pretty much as Langy pegged it, although they ignore the obvious penalties to skill, because again, it's cinematic.

Re: two-bladed sword
Give it the weight of two swords added together, and the price of of two swords added together and then multiplied by 1.25 to 2 for rarity (very few people will want or make such a thing). For instance, a thrusting broadsword with two sharp ends would weigh 6 lbs. and cost $1,500-$2,400. There would be no change in damage, reach, or any other stats – this would be an awkward, unwieldy weapon. It would probably require two hands and give -2 to skill to anybody without a suitable Exotic Weapon Training perk. Its advantages would be that it would be heavy and hard to break, and that it could use the Parrying with Two-Handed Weapons rules on p. 123 of Martial Arts. Of course, a proper two-handed sword would have these advantages, too, and also be cheaper, have better reach, and do more damage, because it wouldn't be a special-order item that wastes 50% of its length getting in the user's way.

Are we talking about the Qian Kun Ri Yue Dao? Has stats in MA.

Re: two-bladed sword
Yes, that version is more forgiving than what I posted, because it assumes a universe where that kind of thing actually works.

Re: two-bladed sword
Its a weapon which was invented for 3e D&D based on Darth Maul's lightsabre in Phantom Menace. It would be an awkward and ineffective weapon in real life. While being heavy, expensive, and awkward to carry it would have low reach, low power, and less grip options than either a two-handed sword or a proper staff weapon. Nor would it have the freedom to move each hand independently which two weapons gives.

Re: two-bladed sword
When you described this, the first thing I thought of was the "gridaksma" from GURPS Myth. Those are 1h though and I think the OP/TC (what do you guys call the thread creator here?) wanted a 2H weapon.
I'm not really into Trek (so I could be 100% wrong), but it sounds almost like you are looking for something similar to the Klingon bat'leth. I bet somebody on the internet has done a GURPS Star Trek. |

Bat'leth are really mostly a variant Qian Kun Ri Yue Dao and can use the same stats. |
