Reworking Divine Power for Darklands
Working temporarily on a Darklands setting. This is obviously a very low-magic setting, but there is divine intervention... through the saints. So here's what I'm thinking.
1) Cap Divine Favor at level 6 [25] 2) A character can learn to pray to a saint for 1 point. For 2 points, he gets a +1 bonus to the Petition roll, for 4 points he gets +2 and for +6 points he gets +3. Divine Favor is a prerequisite for this. 3) Characters can not pray to God directly*. Instead, they have to go through a saint. Buying Divine Favor is just a way of making the Petition rolls to the saints more successful. *and have any chance of something happening

Re: Reworking Divine Power for Darklands
Saintly powers come in four levels.
Level 1 is available to anyone - it allows the character to call upon the saint and get a +1 bonus to one roll appropriate for the saint. If it is on the saint's holy day, the bonus is +2. This can be done once per day. [1] Level 2-4 requires Divine Favor. They give the ability to call upon the saint for a miracle, as per normal Divine Favor. This can be done once per day and the miracle will be appropriate for the saint. When calling on the saint, the PC has a +1/+2/+3 bonus to the Petition roll (this corresponds to roughly twice/thrice/four times the normal chance of a successful intervention). [3/5/7] Any thoughts?
