All told, I don't think the herd horror is any more humorous than the drowned (rotting underwater wights), frozen dead (ice-encased zombies), mummy (the intelligent boss-monster kind), swamp wisp (evil vapors that suffocated people), or tomb tree (ambulatory undead tree with a corpse imprisoned within). Actually, I think all of these things are kind of creepy, if not potentially horrific.
There is an old Lenape story about a deer that was slaughtered on "black soil" that would gore braves who hunted too near it's place of death. I have it SOMEWHERE in my grandfather's archive. Might have to dig it out.

similar to the end scene of one of the "Hawk and Fisher" books by Simon R Green. A Necromancer type summons up the ghosts of everything that had died in one location.... at an abattior.

The Designer's Notes for both DF were really interesting. I like how you basically just laid it all out. Is there anything you couldn't fit in there that you would be willing to share, Kromm?
