Default [Powers] Terror and Power Block/Dodge

Basically my question is can you use the terror advantage with perform Power Blocks or Power Dodges and how would that play out?

Hmm that's a neat concept.
I would think it more a Power Parry but if used against a similar or opposing Power you could try a Block.

My impression is no. Terror doesn't help you evade anything, nor is it a force that can block or parry something else.

Technically no. If you decided to allow it however, it could only work against other mind influencing powers. But the mechanics don't work as is.

Yeah, that's skirting the edges of the rules a bit...but if I were the GM I'd allow it - with a few caveats. First, you'd do a normal Power Dodge (Basic Speed + 3 + Talent / 2). If you succeed you can then roll to activate your ability normally. Here's the bad part - by doing this you are totally giving up your defense and hoping the target rolls badly enough on the Fright Check table to affect what they are doing right then. I don't see anything wrong or unbalanced by that approach. Again, just something I'd allow as a GM.

I think it would depend on the focus used, or possibly the source. A Terror aura might be used to block a Sleep suggestion by countering the effect on the subject before it begins. Or a Terror power stunt might be to cause a surge of panic that makes a person flee back a step, allowing them to roll a Power Dodge against a physical attack.

That's how I thought it'd work. But it'd be a power dodge and not a power block, so you wouldn't get the doubling effect that power blocks have right?

Right. That's at least how I'd do it in my campaign.

I'd also allow a Power Block-ish stunt that helps you resist Mind Control and other maledictions if you have additional "levels" of Terror that imposes a penalty on the Fright Check – if you succeed with the Power Block roll, the attacker gets the penalty on his "attack" roll. Power Blocks normally give the user a bonus to resist, but Terror sounds more like "attacker loses his resolve" kind of thing.

That's an interesting idea. I like it.
