Re: Steve Talks Death Test and Death Test 2
That's great news that the Death Tests are coming back.
My question for those who used them for repeat play: what is your opinion of rooms such as the "Spider Chest" room in DT1, where the challenge can be entirely bypassed once it's known about? Would it be better if the choice to avoid the challenge was taken away, forcing the players to deal with it? Did you feel that knowing about the danger from previous play gave you more chance of completing the adventure and that therefore a danger that could be completely avoided is acceptable in the context of the module as a whole? Would increasing the "risk v reward" of such challenges improve the experience. For instance, the chest might contain something useful like a healing potion? Interested in your ideas? |

;) I like that room. It is a test of character. Yeah, now that you know what is in it, are you still going to open it anyway? :) |

Re: Steve Talks Death Test and Death Test 2
I just want the Powers That Be to know that this is my most anticipated game release of whatever year it gets released in :-D So excited!
I have a wheelbarrow of money ready to upend into the Kickstarter. I swear, all the stretch goals will fund even if I HAVE TO FUND THEM MESELF ...that's all. Carry on! (P.S. Death Test 2 was my favorite solo Microquest for TFT) |

I think the choice to bypass some or all of some room challenges is interesting. The problem I see with that room is that it's trivially defeat-able too. What I would do, is randomize several of the rooms, so that you cannot know for sure what the situation will be if you reach a room you've been to before. Not have magical teleporting rooms, but have the staff put different things in the chest for each test, etc. |
