Default What is increased strength?

I recently started reading the Lensman book series. I am a long time gamer so of course I started thing of the characters in gaming terms. I started looking around and lo and behold GURPS has a Lensman book. I bought one and started reading particularly the aliens. I immediately saw several races had levels of increased strength but I cannot find what a level of increased strength means. Can anybody help me to understand what a level of increased strength means in terms of strength or effect on the game. Some aliens have +1 strength and levels of increased strength, I would like to understand the difference.

Lensmen is a Third Edition book. I think Increased Strength was introduced in GURPS Aliens or Fantasy Folk.
I think it was a multiplier but no longer have my Third edition hard copies and not bought those in PDF.

FYI most conversation in this forum is about Fourth Edition, its been more than 14 years since Third after all. So please post Third Edition in subject titles so people can better know what your asking about.

Increased Strength is in Aliens, but is not in the second edition of Fantasy Folk that's available in PDF from Warehouse 23.

appears to have been around awhile, found in this 1993 article http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/Rolepla...mbat-Land.html

"each level of Increased Strength counts as a ST modifier of 10"

Compendium 1 pg 7 under "Enhanced" Strength also makes mention:

These rules have appeared in many slightly different forms in various GURPS supplements, under the names "Enhanced Strength" , "Heroic Strength" and "Super Strength."

These rules replace the Increased Strength advantage found in earlier GURPS supplements, and will replace the rules for buying ST 16+ for all characters in the next edition of the Basic Set.

So I guess we need some kind of conversion notes on how to adapt the Lensman content to the 3e compendium rules, and then adapt that to 4e?

Page 3 is pretty brutal:

There exists a Japanese anime and comic book series with the same name as this work.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with Doc's story, and is not authorized.
Was the July 1984 film that far off? https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/enc...me.php?id=2043

I can't find any comic, just a TV spinoff (25 eps) that ran Oct84-Mar85

Pretty sure it was in the first edition of Fantasy Folk.

Essentially every level of Increased Strength doubled ST. It was replaced with a decreased cost of higher levels of ST in 3rd Edition Revised.

In 4th Edition it was replaced with the quadratic ST calculation for Lifting ST (that is, all lifting capabilities are calculated from ST*ST*Something in 4th Edition instead of ST*Something in 3rd Edition).

By the Curving Carballoy Claws of Klono, yes!

Kimball Kinnison was a farmboy from a planet that looked a lot like Tatooine (no, I am not making this up).

There was a Lens of a sort and a semi-reptillian beign named Worsel (but not as described in the book) so it may have intended to steal from Doc Smith's work. It was busier stealing from Star Wars though.

Increased ST by 100%; increased strength 2 was x3, not x4.

Thank you all for all your help. My apologies for not knowing what edition the supplement was for.
