3 Handed Sword for Octopus?
So I've had this image in my head of an Octopus wielding a 3 handed sword. It's two big for two tentacles, but with three it's usable.
Anyone care to propose stats for the dread 3 handed sword? |

Re: 3 Handed Sword for Octopus?
The advantage of octopi is their multiple arms more than each arm really being all that powerful, which is why they can't just one-hand three greatswords. But maybe something like:
Three-Tentacled Sword, ST 20, 3d+2, 20 lbs. Great Three-Tentacled Sword, ST 24, 3d+3, 25 lbs. |

Who says they can't 1-hand three great swords? Is that in the rule book somewhere? Lots of octopi have high enough ST to one hand a great sword.

I thought Steve said so, and that it was in the errata, or Hexagram, but I'm not finding it at the moment.

Re: 3 Handed Sword for Octopus?
In any case, not denying octopi (ab)use of Legacy's new super-generous "you only need +3 ST to one-hand a two-handed weapon" change, undermines the interestingness of what weapons octopi might choose to use, since otherwise they're just going to be "use a two-handed weapon? Why? I can use anything with one tentacle".
Also a good example of how non-humanoid monster ST often tends to reflect ability to take hits more than it's about arm/tentacle ST or ability to hurt others. |
