Last time I looked, Colossus is rated at Class 70 strength, so the ST discussed so far here seems low.

I was putting it around ST 36/1,020; BL 260lbs / 104 tons. What would you suggest?

Colossus can bench press about 550 lbs unarmored and about 70 tons armored.

Two-Handed Lift: 8xBL (takes four seconds). b. page 353. This is the closest we get to "Bench press" that is used in the marvel universe strength scale.

So Colossus has ST normally at about 19, we can call it 20 though.

To lift 70 tons, or 140000 lbs, he needs at least ST 295, 296 puts it just over 70 tons.

So the closest we can get to that range would be:

Super ST +13/300 (Super effort, +300%; PM, -10%; Only in Metallic Form, -10%) [494]

You can reduce that by taking a high enough Lifting Skill and/or Power Blow. In either case, you would want to increase Will.

That would cost more and take even longer to pull off if you don't buy will or power blow up.

Assuming ST bought up to 20 first:

To reach the same ST in striking or Lifting you need:

Striking ST +276 (PM, -10%; Only in Metallic Form, -10%) [1104]
Lifting ST +276 (PM, -10%; Only in Metallic Form, -10%) [663]

Your way means:

Power Blow (H) Will+40 [164]
Striking ST +79 (PM, -10%; Only in Metallic Form, -10%) [316]
Lifting ST +79 (PM, -10%; Only in Metallic Form, -10%) [190]

Total (670) To be able to pull of for 1 second and costing 1 FP every time.

or just:

Super ST +13/300 (Super effort, +300%; Cosmic, reduced FP cost, +70%; PM, -10%; Only in Metallic Form, -10%) [585]

It still takes 1 second to use the higher ST score, but it no longer cost FP.

I don't know if it's rules legal to build like this, but you could get exactly ST 19/296 by buying ST down to 6 [-40], and then adding Super ST +13/300 (though I would build the Super Effort as a Limited Enhancement (Cosmic, reduced FP cost, +70%; PM, -10%; Only in Metallic Form, -10%) +450% [715].

You'd end up with ST 19/296 no FP cost for [675]. Y'all think that's kosher?

ST with no fatigue cost should be "Fixed ST" at a base 8/lvl.

Super-Effort ST without costing fatigue is explicitly legal per Powers. "You can’t take Reduced Fatigue Cost to eliminate these costs unless you also add Cosmic (+50%)." (P58). That's for Lifting ST, but general Super ST wasn't added until Supers and I don't see any reason it would be different.

A GM that wants to do so certainly can. Bear in mind that Super-Effort expressly doesn't help grappling or a few other minor things, so even without an extra fatigue cost your ST isn't effectively always the higher value.

Personally, I find that KYOS makes a much better solution.

This is what I would do too, but then when you go through the logic it does not match. Colossus has ST 19-20 without being metal With Super ST having the "Only in metal form" limitation, that means he would not get the +13 ST unless he turns metal.

also remember that the super ST is added to base ST.

The Super ST is +13/+300

add that to ST 6 and you get = ST 19/306

But!

This gives me an idea!

ST 6 [-40] +
Super ST +13/300 (Super effort (Only in Metallic Form, -10%, PM, -10%), +240%; Cosmic, reduced FP cost, +70%) [533]

that gives us:

ST 19/306 [493]

you have ST 19 normally have ST 19, but you can up it after 1 second to 306 only when you are in your metal form.

I would allow this in my Supers game.
