Default Cyberpunk trought the world

Ok, i will make a cyberpunk campaign with a lot of road trip, since my players will not read this topic, i will just put some details here.

This is a cyberpunk with a anime tone, so we will have espers, mechas, cyborgs and genetic modified humans, that people often call gens.

I am still creating stuff, but gens have 3 sub "species":
the were gens are gens humans with another animal gen. There is some variations here. The chimera have more than one distinct animal (you can have sometimes "close animals" like a lion and a cat and will not be a chimera). Were Gen X are were gens that simulate non natural traits from animals, generally one from legends (you have the fox model use "drug glands" to cause hallucinations that simulate illusions powers) the Uber Humans just take the humans to the extreme trying to create the perfect human and the abominations are far from being human and are more like bio weapons.

Cyborgs and espers will have sub groups to. Humans will have access to higher level of lucky and some other stuff related to "willpower" and talent and higher level.

That said, the plot will be related to something apart the cyberpunk setting that is something like Infinity worlds... This is not related to the topic. The important part is that they will travel around the world trying to recruit allies to a group and some other stuff.

It will be in 2070, i live in Brazil so i have some concepts to a cyberpunk Brazil (it will be the starting point) i can explain later... What i want is suggestions about the other countries and places of the world, we found a lot of stuff on cyberpunk north america, but not so much about the rest of the world... And i can think in a cyberpunk here in Brazil but is harder to think in other places.

  5. North African (from the Mediterranean coast south to the Sahel)
  6. Sub-Saharan (specifically as contrasted with North African)
  7. West Asian (from the Mediterranean east to Iran)
  8. Central Asian (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and so on)
  9. South Asian (dominated by India)
  10. East Asian (China, Japan, Korea, etc.)
I will make that they will visit at least one of each region above. So i need a "cyberpunk eastern europe" a "cyberpunk sub-saharan" and etc.

If current trends continue, identity and culture will probably detach further from physical region, so what different places in a "realistic" near-future cyberpunk world look and feel like will mostly be wallpaper. Unless you have a compelling reason to delve deeper than what Wikipedia can tell you, I'd call it good to go.

I'd think that less-industrialized regions today would continue to be less advanced in the near future. Even if there's a font of amazing wealth the physical and human infrastructure in an area takes time to develop. I would expect West Asia, the Sub-Sahara and South America would have small pockets of high technology rather than vast networks. Technology would favor biotech or military surplus technologies, dependable low-maintainence high technology that functions well outside of the narrow areas of advanced technology.

East Asian (China, Japan, Korea, etc.)
A lot of cyberpunk (starting with William Gibson) was set in or centered on Japan, Hong Kong, or Shanghai. It shouldn't be too hard to find inspiration for this region -- just go bleeding edge and glittery.

R. Talsorian Games produced a licensed Bubblegum Crisis conversion. It's out of print, but worth picking up if you can find it cheap.

Sub-Saharan (specifically as contrasted with North African)
There is a sourcebook for 2300 AD called Rotten to the Core that details a cyberpunk Libreville in Gabon. It presupposes the existence of a beanstalk to orbit there, but you could get a lot of the same effect by having one under construction.

In general, there are a number of world books for cyberpunk settings that you can mine for ideas on the rest of the globe:

GURPS Cyberworld
2300 AD Earth/Cybertech Sourcebook
Transhuman Space: Fifth Wave
Transhuman Space: Broken Dreams

I think you'll also see leapfrogging. People will find a tech solution that works well for their situation and skip the intermediate steps that the originating societies went through, much like cell phones and pay-by-phone are widely adopted in places that have never seen landline networks or credit card-based banking systems.

I would remain cautious about including China and Japan as a single culture group - they're not, they're not fond of each other and they are not trending that way. At least, not as far as I can tell.
A Chinosphere - including chunks of Africa - on the other hand, seems very likely.
I also wouldn't rule out a Pacifica block - how you mix that up and who dominates will depend on your other world building assumptions but seeing it as a "counter China" might be a thing - Indonesia would need to overcome its "fundamentalist" problem to participate effectively in a highly cyberneticised world but the Philippines has great potential and other SE Asian and Pacific states should also not be ignored.

Nations also do not have to survive, especially in cyberpunk settings (look at Shadowrun). If the USA fragmented, South Carolina could be as poor as Ecuador since it would not benefit from federal $ or military recruitment.

Interesting. I am currently running a couple of games which may be considered "cyberpunk" (despite being established in an alternative present). Although they are on international scale, most of the action has been developed so far in the United States of America. What plans do you have for Brazil? Do you have something like a chronology of what happened in the country?

In my settings the most important changes have been economic, with a corporation leading more than half of the net income of Fortune 500 companies, and technological, with sensitive androids, anti-aging drugs, advanced genetic engineering and cybernetics, volitional intelligences, smart buildings, virtual reality, nuclear fusion reactors, avant-garde materials ...

At this point, the only "technologies" that remain unchanged are agriculture, weapons, armor and transport ... and they are working in the field of agriculture to colonize Antarctica.
