Not just mead, but cider as well.

Yes, although I tend to consider ciders either beer or wine depending on their ABV rating.

For licensing purposes, at least in Michigan, those are considered wine. I'd run with that for the skills. The production process is also similar. I'm not sure how much of a connoisseurshiop of cider there is though. Not that the stuff isn't wonderful, but it seems like something that was hot for a while, and has died on the vine.

Well I neverdeveloped a liking for wine red or white, but I love cider 8)

Cider and Midori are the my prefer choices of alchlic bervages

Which brings up if you Breaking it down into Beer, Wine and Spirits , where do Liquors go?

Then there's sake, which can have pretty high alcohol content, but is brewed a lot like beer.

Edit: the last time I had sake was almost 25 years ago, but it tasted to me more like a strong beer than wine.

Edit2: I've also tried low-alcohol mead (probably 2-3%, fresh, with bubbles) and high-alcohol mead (who knows what alcohol content). The high-alcohol mead tasted to me a lot like sake.

I find that a decent sake tastes like sake, and a decent mead tastes like mead... There are enough differences, at least to my palate, that they aren't really "wine" or "beer".
