Just to clarify: since the kneepads are considered an item, but have no "bonus", even if they are the only item carried, the truly obnoxious curse would still not have any effect? (similarly for any other item with no bonus, ie, tuba, etc.)

The way me and my friends play +0 is still a bonus but I'm gonna wait for the moderators seeing as after reading this, I'm now wondering the same thing. :-P

This post should help you.

If you have no items with +N bonus on them, then you still have to lose one of them when you receive this curse.

Does it have to be an item like armor or weapon? Does this include one shots? For example, can "Magic Missile" be the one that gets discarded as it offers +5, even though it is a one shot?

Thanks,
John

I'm almost certain you don't include one-shots. They don't give you a bonus unless you use them on your own side. And once you have used them, they are already considered lost, so even if you have played them in the current combat towards your side when cursed, they won't be applicable.

Basically, this.

Reviving this thread. last night, I used this on my friend with two 0 bonus items, he argues that he keeps them both but I think he chooses one item to discard(both tied at 0 for biggest bonus). Anyone want to chime in?

If there's a tie for highest bonus Item, the Cursed player chooses one to discard.
