Re: Melee and Wizard "Challenges"
This would be very cool. Not only would it provide a map that could be used for the scenario and a regular game, but the 'teams' could beef up the overall number of monsters and NPCs available in long term games.
If you had Samurai VS Post Civil War Infantry (Last Samurai) not only would you have the battlefield map, but you would then have 'artifacts' in the form of cap-lock rifles and revolvers. This format could even flow over to things like Aliens vs Wermacht, Sasquach vs Neolithic warriors, or or whatever odd match-ups you want. They really wouldn't NEED to be balanced, so long as they are fun.

Re: Melee and Wizard "Challenges"
Another possible take on this idea would be to do "Encounter Sets."
As above, it could be a unique map, "monster" counters, and a few different ways to use them in games, both straight Melee/Wizard and ITL. |

Re: Melee and Wizard "Challenges"
This is a hot idea; and I am very excited about the potential here, in terms of play-value to the end-user, and product-value in supporting the line into the future.
So, let' me summarize where it sounds like we are so far, and see if we are visualizing the same thing, or not: How is this?: A MicroGame-style Expansion pack; where the contents could be:
Is that what we are all basically seeing? One other *really cool* thing about this idea: Customers buy Set A (i.e. Roman v Spartans), and then they buy Set B (Aliens v Cavemen)... now a *Synergistic Value* kicks in, as they also can now play: (Romans vs Aliens), or, (Spartans vs Cavemen); etc. Anyone seeing it differently? This is good stuff guys! JK |

Re: Melee and Wizard "Challenges"
Great work Jim
The idea of a supplement that is not a "programed adventure" or long thematic dungeon/wilderness adventure really appeals to me and in my opinion stays very close to the format of Melee and Wizard A simple, small and not too expensive supplement with good play value and cross compatibility with other similar products is something I would be buying every time. Like for instance, the old Floor Plans products, Haunted House, Mall, Missile Silo, had maps, a few Cardboard heroes and some lite description on how the product might be used Add four pages of Melee/Wizard statistics and scenarios, and you are done. |

I'd love to see an escape room scenario with a set of pre-built characters and constraints for making your own...
And this, Jim, Quote:
I really love the idea of splat books in a microgame format, with counters and maps! It makes my old eyes mist up just a little... |

Another use would be to buy 3 or 4 and line the encounters up a la Death Test and have the different encounters on different maps. Aliens on the Romans v Spartans map, Cavemen on the Pirates v Merchantman map, Spartans in the urban skirmish map, Dinosaurs on the spaceship, and so on. This way you could use straight TFT fighters and mages or pick the Romans or the Cowboys, or the Space Marines, or whichever culturs are not being used. While I've never been a fan of the Death Test style game, this would really spice it up.

Re: Melee and Wizard "Challenges"
Well now, it sounds like we have a potential winner here!
What are the odds, Steve and Phil? (Assuming that TFT does okay during the Kickstarter, of course...) |
