In terms of what armor is useful against it, cutting probably comes closest, though mechanically Corr(0.1) is probably appropriate (it's an attack that will never do anything until armor is completely destroyed, at which point it becomes very dangerous very fast).

What if it's Leather of Quality? That option for better leather means that there probably should be an entry for light leather so you can build a 1* DR leather using kangaroo or sharkskin or whatever.

That rule applies to armour only. Light leather is clothing, not armour If you want fine quality leather clothing then that affects status and cost of living, not DR.

Light leather, dispite being described in the armour section, IS NOT ARMOUR. It provides an incidental DR of 1 against cutting attacks just like some articles of clothing. If one of my players insisted on wearing it then I'd disabuse him of the idea when the next ten combats he gets into all involved crushing and impaling attacks.

If it is too complicated then give it DR 0 just like all of the other clothing in Basic Set.

Light leather vest: DR 0*(1 vs cutting), weight: 1.70lbs, cost: $60, Don 15

Bam, there you go. Just use that along with the armor locations table and you can now make your own customized light leather or fur garments. Note that the base cost is for status 0, meaning neither a benefit to reaction nor a penalty. Status -2 is -5 CF, status -1 is -1CF, Status 1 is +1CF, Status 2 is +4CF, Status 3 is +19 CF, etc.

Note that the status does not reflect the actual quality, just the styling. A rabbit fur tunic isn't any worse than a fox-fur tunic, but it looks bad. Similarly, for leather, assume that at higher status you're paying for gilding, embossing, dying and other expensive styling options. It doesn't make the garment any worse for protection, but it will have reaction modifiers.

This is what abrasion looks like when your brain is functioning well enough to protect itself.
