I submit there is an obvious answer, at least if you are up on your relevant history. I also submit there will never be a better time to use it. Well, let's hope not anyway. Just for fun, I'll post part of the name and see if someone else can come up with the rest. FnordCon: October ________. Yes, the number of under bars corresponds to the number of letters in the word. Let the "race" begin. ;-)

The answer is Surprise, as in Fnordcon: October Surprise, because Fnord and in this case the double meaning of October Surprise.

From Wikipedia:

"In American political jargon, an October surprise is a news event deliberately created or timed or sometimes occurring spontaneously to influence the outcome of an election, particularly one for the U.S. presidency. Because the date for national elections (as well as many state and local elections) is in early November, events that take place in October have greater potential to influence the decisions of prospective voters. Thus these relatively last-minute news stories could either completely change the entire course of an election or strongly reinforce the inevitable.

The term "October surprise" was coined by William Casey when he served as campaign manager of Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign.[2] There have been however October election-upending events that predate the coining of the term."

I await the decision of the Secret Masters, who have extensive experience with October Surprises. ;-)
