Why the low Animal Handling (canines)?

Re: Aaaaooo!
IQ 10, 1 point in an average skill, and I didn't give her any levels of Animal Friend.
Being raised by wolves doesn't necessarily mean that you are good at training dogs, though. Edit: Her quirk points went into Stealth (which is pretty vital for the concept), Camouflage (ditto), Tracking (because I imagine that is a big niche for her in most parties), and Mimicry (to support the quirk). Re: Aaaaooo!
Her "backstab" is at skill-16 and does an average of 52 points of injury to a helmless foe, and a knockdown roll at -10 (unless they have 104 HP!).

Re: Aaaaooo!
A few of minor things I noticed while inputting this fun character into GCS:
I come up with Tracking-18. Two points should give a base skill of Per which is 12, +2 for Outdoorsmen and +4 for Discriminatory Smell = 18. I'm probably missing something, but I can't figure out what it is. A full canteen should weigh 3 lbs. (1 lb canteen + 2 lbs of water), bringing her total encumbrance to 73.02 lbs, still comfortably below the 78 lb. cutoff for light encumbrance. GCS calculates base Stealth-14. After some investigating I realized that this includes the -1 penalty for light encumbrance. I only mention it here because I don't know what standard practice is in terms of including this (i.e., not sure if your unencumbered value was intentional). It gets complicated with skills like stealth where it depends on whether you are moving and which senses you are trying to defeat. Thanks for sharing this great concept. My five-year-old daughter was immediately obsessed with the idea of a girl raised by wolves and faeries! (And, while pillaging the internet for a suitable character portrait, we had a fruitful discussion about the fact that a shocking number of female barbarians look like swimsuit models with lipstick and bikinis arranged just-so. RPG art is such a reliable intro to the concept of the male gaze in media.) |

Re: Aaaaooo!
Yeah Encumbrance penalties. I will need to look up what the next footnote symbol is.
Edit: Actually never mind, neither Kromm or PK are including encumbrance penalties. Last edited by sir_pudding; 11-23-2017 at 12:14 PM. |

Re: Aaaaooo!
It's been a while, but I've had this character in my Templates folder ever since she was posted here. I included her this week in a set of pregens for our long-awaited DFRPG Camp (originally planned for the summer of 2020, but canceled due to some pesky virus). She was very popular with the students. (We had variants: Wolf-Girl, Wolf-Boy, and gender-neutral Wolf.)

Re: Aaaaooo!
I love Halfling Barbarians. It's a fun concept to put in the game because of the hobbit stereotype. I played a Barbarian spearman with boomerangs and I wanted to train War Baboons but never found any for sale. I probably should have taken Animal training Alligator. That would have been excellent.
My Halfling Barbarian didn't fit well with Kleptomania because he was prideful kith of an honorable clan. So I worked out with the GM that rather then being tempted to steal treasures, I would make a self control roll any time someone slighted me or embarrassed me and if I failed I walked up to them and took something of theirs while making eye contact so they knew it was me stealing it. |
