Noob Question {Combat/Dodge}
My apologies for all the noobs questions. I have one last one.
One thief vs. 2 ninjas. Is this correct? One turn only. 1. Ninja 1 uses his blade to slice The Thief 2. The Thief successfully dodges 3. Ninja 2 now attacks. Here is the question. Does Ninja 2's attack automatically go through? Unless The Thief does an All out Defense, he will will get hit. From what I understand, you only get one active defence per turn. Is this correct? |

Re: Noob Question {Combat/Dodge}
No.
Under the standard rules, you can Block once, Parry as often as you like (though with increasing penalties each time) and Dodge as often as you like per turn.

Re: Noob Question {Combat/Dodge}
If the thief is surrounded (pretty likely when facing 2 ninjas) one of the attacks may be from the rear, which makes an active defense impossible. But that's a separate issue.
The All-Out Defense option that allows two defenses allows you to make two attempts to defend against the same attack.

Re: Noob Question {Combat/Dodge}
Hmmm...what about spell combat.
1 Good Mage vs. 3 Evil Mages. One turn... 1. Evil Mage - Cast Fireball 2. Good Mage - Catch spell 3. Evil Mage 2 - Cast Fireball 4. What are Good Mage's options? Can he cast another , "catch spell" or "blink" or "teleport" 5. And of course, this will follow up by Evil Mage 3 shooting another fireball. 6. Same as number 4. |

Re: Noob Question {Combat/Dodge}
And to hammer that out just a little more, that's two attempts to defend against each attack.

The mage can however attempt to dodge each fireball.

Note that they are otherwise very powerful though as your defense is based off the skill rather then half skill +3 like most other active defense rolls. |

These scenarios of one against many are just like real life, the one needs to be much more powerful to fight against 3 at the same time. In a battle were everyone can fight at the same time you will have something like: Average power of side 1* N1! vs Average power of side 2*N2!. where N=number of fighters So, for a mage to kill alone 3 evil mages, he will need to be 6 times as powerful as an evil mage. |
