Now if it was for a PC from some monastic order that had a sort of term vows(like the military has a term vow of obedience), that might make sense. Or if the PC had promised not to marry until performing a Heroic Deed that might make sense. But why do you have to buy it off to get married? You just get married. I don't think it is a Vow at all, in any case. It is a normal part of the commands of several religions even though kept with varied strictness in practice. It should be Disciplines of Faith. If included in a monk it should be done just by adding points to Disciplines of Faith. It can only be a Vow when it is unique.

Re: Vows
And by the RAW, once a vow is fulfilled, you buy it off. Some vows are lifelong so you never have to buy them off but you can if you want to. Some vows are to achieve a some goal, and those must be bought off once you kill the murderer of your father, or find your way back to Earth, or married.

Re: Vows
What's the difference between that and a Duty?

Re: Vows
Not much. The vow is more literal minded. If you swear a Vow to obey your superiors you will obey them even when their commands will damage the church for as long as they hold that position of authority.

Re: Vows
But is it really any different then an oath of enlistment? That only gets duty for a player.
