before combat
If it is my turn and i find myself in a room with a monster, can I first take advantage of the "deal" in the room? Can I search the room first? Or, like the card game, does everything stop so I fight?
Can I take advantage of the deal after beating the monster, or the deal of the room I ran away to? |

Re: before combat
When you see a monster, you must fight immediately.
Once the monster is defeated, or if you Run Away into an empty room, you may avail yourself of any Deals.

Re: before combat
Just to be absolutely clear: The rules specifically tell you that you can not make deals when a Monster is present and the section that discusses Monsters that ignore you goes on to enforce this statement by saying you can't perform a deal when a Monster that ignores you is present.
