Default Newbie--a few questions

Hi, all. New to playing Munchkin Quest, and I need some help figuring out a few things. I have been looking through the manual and forums but haven't got this straight yet--I do apologize if this is answered somewhere else, but I did look. ^_^

So, here we are--a few questions:

1. What is the difference between normal, locked, and hidden doors other than the increased movement cost? Is there anything special munchkins have to do to get through locked/hidden doors? Or do those just apply to monsters, as things that most can't get through but some might be able to use?

2. Cards in play: Are cards "in play" always set before you face up? I'm assuming so from the picture, but wasn't sure if that was just supposed to be for wearables and weapons, or if that would include "belt" items like potions and scrolls.

3. DxM Cards: Do DxM cards (especially "usable once only" cards) have to be held in your "hand" until used, or can they be put "in play" but without being "used" to get them out of your hand like items? If they can be put in play, do they go in front of you face up? We assumed, since DxM weren't "items," they couldn't go "in play" on your belt or anything like that, so they had to reside in your hand until used (aside from obvious exceptions like races and classes). Is that right?

Sorry if these are some stupid questions. :-P I answered one for myself (about searching) by re-reading a section I must have just read too quickly before, so I'm not a total idiot! ^_^

Munchkin Quest is hilarious fun, btw.
