Presenting the Israeli Golem (unofficial)
This is a mad kitbash of the Ogre Mk. III and IV. It was a bit tricky figuring out the placement of the guns, but I think I pulled it off. This does still need some work with green stuff to fill the remaining holes and clean up the front glacis plate.

Re: Presenting the Israeli Golem (unofficial)
I don't know how I feel about the MB being essentially combined with an MR, but overall it looks pretty good. I know it probably wouldn't work due to the molding, but I more picture it as the top of the front "hump" being shaved more flat and the 3rd MR being put there rather than right up front with the MB, but the back section looks really nice (although I did have some trouble seeing the SB on the left at first as it blended in with the tower - curse my aging eyes! :)).

I tried a bunch of different layouts. I didn't post the pictures, but I mucked around for about two hours with the MB, SBs, and third missile rack and some blue-tack. I know that combining the MB and MR is a bit cringey for some folks, but I think it works.

Re: Presenting the Israeli Golem (unofficial)
Is it a safe assumption that it looked really corny with the MR on the next plate back / up? It'd be a more natural-looking placement, but I can also see how it could ruin the overall aesthetic.
The way it is right now leaves it looking very sleek, and if it was me I wouldn't want to lose that to gain a little bit of realism. [It's why my Huscarl still isn't done...I'm on about my 15th iteration of one particular fiddly bit and haven't liked any of them enough to commit to green stuff]

Re: Presenting the Israeli Golem (unofficial)
So yes, it'd look really corny there. ;)
I like it how it is, but was a curiosity that came to mind. Let the haters hate, the finished product looks slick...If I wanted my games 100% realistic, I wouldn't be playing a game about Turing-capable AIs running around in fusion-powered, railgun-toting tanks the size of patrol boats hoofing overland at roughly 60mph while being shot at by guys in power armor capable of withstanding direct hits from nuclear-tipped shaped charges.

Re: Presenting the Israeli Golem (unofficial)
Speaking of the Golem, I've been making up a simple stat card to use if I ever get around to making a Golem.
What's the consensus on movement? There are several sources, saying anywhere from 48 to 78 tread units, but almost all say M3. 78 treads sounds really hard to stop ... like, impossible. The Drones in the internal bays are also a bit of a question mark. |
