Default Through the eyes of a naturalist

How far ahead can a naturalist spot a slime on the ceiling? A walking pace of three hexes? Does she abort movement right before walking under it?

How far ahead (if at all) can an non-naturalist with Alertness spot the slime?

For a non-naturalist, the hexes would be the same. It's about noticing tell tale signs of trouble.

But how far ahead? I'd say as far as they could notice anything like traps or secret doors.

One hex qualifies as "just before" in my book.

Here's what I get from the text.

ITL 69: "A party suspecting a door or trap in one particular hex may
look a second time."

ITL 72: "for each member of the party to see if the trap is spotted.

Since they aren't assumed to be walking in single file this seems to indicate that traps are detected within at least the same megahex.

ITL 76: "You go one hex SW, and sure enough, in the second hex SW, you see a slime. You also see that the next hex after that, where it bends W, seems to have some bushes in it."

Spotting traps is different from spotting slimes on ceilings. In many/most cases, you don't have to be right next to a trap to get a chance to notice it.
