I can find no mention of staff mana doing this.

The only mention of using mana for anything is here:

ITL 148: "Each point of mana can be spent like a point of ST to power spells."

This page also mentions "The wizard must be holding or wearing the staff for it to be useful." So pay $70 to the Wizard's Guild to put five conceal spells on your fine silver dagger and then just keep it in your pocket.
I wonder if Wizards play "Rock, Scroll, Staff"?

I don't see anything that allows a staff's occult strike to be powered by its own store of mana either...

Find a kind of slime that eats wood but not gems. Drop it on the staff and stone. Wait.

Powerstones still have their place.
Except I was forgetting Staff V
"Like Staff IV, except that the Mana stat of the staff may be raised, by spending XP, up to twice the wizard’s IQ ..."

Oops!

Kind of side point.

I remember way back when, there were powerstone charging racks.

No idea where I saw this, but I definitely remember reading it, not house ruled.

One of the GURPS Magic Items books mentioned them, if memory serves.

That's probably (?) because GURPS powerstones recharge themselves from ambient mana, but have to be separated by some distance or else they compete with each other for the available mana.

Buzzardo, Skarg

Thanks, I knew I remembered reading that. Just couldn't for the life of me remember where/when.

Here's another powerstone question. In Note B to magic item creation, it talks about how both powerstone lines can be combined, and how 5 wizard's, 3 apprentices and 12 potions can make an ST 17 powerstone.

I can't figure out the math for that. Can anyone she'd some light?

Three wizards will be doing the 5 point enchantment for two weeks, each will have one apprentice.

the fourth wizard will be doing the 1 point enchantment twice (for unknown reasons) with the fifth wizard acting as her apprentice.

Therefore 26 healing potions will be consumed over each of two weeks for a total of 52 potions.
