Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
I just got around to watching the podcast. Lots of interesting stuff in there, but one thing that Kromm said really made me sit up and pay attention:

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
Over on the GURPS Pyramid Forum, I was asked:
Out of curiousity (and I don't mean to pry or be untoward) can you explain at least in general what manner of expenses, challenges, and hoops and such are there in doing such an interview? How does the process work? Quickly, here's how I do these things,

I prefer to make my own settings. However a good setting book can attract gamers which is a good thing and also provide more crunch and gear resources which I think most of us would like. I will buy a setting issue even if I dont intend to use it, mostly to see how someone else does it and to mine it for ideas. One done by our main authors would be an extra bonus.

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
Thursday is GURPS-Day, and I was going to make a post about attack and defense options on lulls and flurries again, but I'm going to return to that at a later date.
There's an interesting thread on the Forums which makes the bald statement that "GURPS seems to be engineered for people that enjoy really complex rules." This raised my hackles a bit, and I'll tell you why: GURPS' basic rules are not complex. Ooo, I can hear the knives sharpening already . . .

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
I missed a post.
GURPS Niche Protection - Capability vs. Execution A comment that was recently made struck an idea in my head, and that was that what makes characters different is what makes the game fun. The differences in their capabilities. That struck me funny, and it took me a moment to realize why. GURPS allows two different characters that have completely identical capabilities to play absolutely differently. It's a matter of player choice.

This isn't a post announcement, but a solicitation for ideas.
I try and do one "podcast" per month. I've hit my quota for October. :-) what would people like to see/hear/read for November?

But that means I'd need an introduction to him, someone to say "Hey, Wil - this guy is worth spending an hour with." An email or contact that came from me would certainly be lost. That said: it would be "hella fun."

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
In looking for anyone making comments about TG, I stumbled across a comment/rant by a blogger calling himself Mu, that was a nice counterpoint t my post about complexity from the other direction. While harsh, it's the kind of harshness that was very engaging, and with a huge chunk of wisdom in there for those wishing to distill it.
So, while my next posts will get back to the rules and tweaks that I enjoy making, I thought his post was well worth linking to, and it inspired some of my own thoughts on how to make GURPS better.
