Re: [Martial Arts] Superhuman martial arts?
Checking GURPS Martial Arts, most of the styles which say Special Exercises do appear to specify one level. Smasha lists Special Exercises (DR 1 with Tough Skin), or (Striking ST+1). Professional Wrestling has Special Exercises (DR 1 with Tough Skin), most wrestling styles allow Special Exercises (Lifting ST+1)... Shaolin Kung Fu also specifies Special Exercises (DR 1 with Tough Skin) or (Striking ST+1).
Foot Archery specifies Special Exercises (Arm ST+1) up to three times, allowing Arm ST+3, seeming to be the exception. All the others give me the impression that any given Special Exercises can only be taken once, and that Foot Archery is an exception because you can take it more than once. On the other hand, for someone to take DR 5 using Special Exercises, they would need at least 5 martial arts Perks... or a minimum of 40 points spent in skills/techniques as prerequisites (1 style perk per 20 points in combat skills, and 1 style perk per 10 points in a specific style) - so in order to have that many Perks available, the line for "realistic" has already been crossed a few miles behind you. |
